Ada Potts was Edna Williams mother. Ada had lost her husband, James Butcher (Ednas father) when he was quite young. Ada remarried one Joseph Wilson Potts (they are pictured together above).
My Nana (what we kids called Ada) had a very bright and bubbly personality, a great sense of humor, was a very good cook, and quite the Royalist (at least later in life).
Nana taught me to tell the time (huge patience required!), introduced me to my first dog (the lovely Butch Butcher), and had a metamorphosing step ladder that kept me occupied for hours.
When I got older, I spent a lot of time with Nana and Grandad. Learned Nana had experienced deprivation through the depression, had been bombed in the blitz, and more about her lost husband.
I admired Ada Potts, nee Butcher, immensely.
